New Route of the Day – Americas (29 April 2022): United between New York EWR and Nice


United chose 29 April as the launch date for its new daily service between New York EWR and Nice. The 6,450-kilometre route will be flown using the airline’s 767-300ERs. These aircraft operate in a variety of configurations. According to, the aircraft used on the inaugural service (registration N670UA) is configured with a total of 214 seats, of which 180 are in economy. However, in the first two weeks of operation it has also used 767s configured with 167 seats in a three class arrangement.

Flights are currently set to operate until 6 September according to Cirium data. The first flight on the return leg, between Nice and Newark took place the following day on 30 April. Competition on the route between New York and Nice comes from La Compagnie and Delta. The all business-class French carrier offers 3-weekly service to Newark using A321neos configured with just 76 seats. For those that can’t afford that level of luxury, Delta offers a daily service to New York JFK with its three-class 767-400s.

Already serves Paris non-stop from four airports

Nice becomes United’s second destination in France. It already serves Paris CDG with daily flights from Chicago, San Francisco and Washington, as well as 2-daily service from Newark. Nice currently has no other non-stop services to the US.

By the end of this summer, United is expected to have operated some 71 different routes between the US and Europe, more than any of its US rivals.
