New Route of the Day – Americas (3 February 2023): American between Phoenix and Fayetteville

American added a new route on Friday 3 February between Phoenix and Fayetteville, which is served by Northwest Arkansas National Airport (IATA code XNA). The 1,650-kilometre route is operated daily by the oneworld carrier’s partner airline Envoy Air and its E175 aircraft. Flight AA4193 departs the Arizona airport each day at 17:10 local time and arrives at 20:43. The return flight, AA4033, departs Fayetteville at 08:20, landing in Phoenix at 10:24 local time.
What they said
Andrew Branch, Chief Operating Officer of Northwest Arkansas National Airport, said: “We are grateful for American Airlines’ continued partnership and interest in the Northwest Arkansas market. American is a dependable legacy carrier at XNA, and the addition of the nonstop to Phoenix is a route that will greatly benefit passengers across the region.”
American faces Breeze competition
American is currently the sole operator on the Phoenix to Fayetteville route. However, this will change on Friday 17 February, when Breeze commences a 2-weekly service between the two airports. Flights will run on Mondays and Fridays with the E195 aircraft. Indirectly, American competes against Allegiant, which operates 2-weekly between Phoenix-Mesa Gateway (IATA code AZA) and Fayetteville, each Thursday and Sunday. Phoenix’s main airport is 50-kilometres from Mesa Gateway.
This new route means that American now serves Fayetteville non-stop from eight US airports, the others being Charlotte, Chicago ORD, Dallas DFW, Los Angeles, Miami, New York LGA and Washington DCA. Fayetteville is the second largest city in Arkansas with a population of almost 100,000.
