New Route of the Day – Americas (30 April 2026): American between Miami and Caracas

American inaugurated flights between Miami and Caracas on Thursday 30 April, marking the resumption of service between the US and Venezuela after seven years. The 2,190-kilometre route will initially be maintained daily, increasing to 2-daily from 21 May. The 76-seat E175 aircraft will be deployed between the two cities.
Flight AA3599 departs Miami at 10:16 local time, arriving in Caracas at 13:18. The return service, operating as flight AA4194, takes off at 14:40 local time, touching back down in the US at 18:13.
What they said
Nate Gatten, Executive Vice President of American Eagle, Corporate Real Estate and Government Affairs at American, said: “American is proud to be the first airline to resume service between Venezuela and the US. Our historic return to Venezuela wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the governments of both countries. American is the leading air carrier between the US and Latin America because of our incredible Miami hub and the people, elected leaders and community who help power it every day.”
Sean Duffy, Transportation Secretary in the US government, added: “Today is about more than just another flight – it’s a critical milestone in strengthening the United States’ relationship with Venezuela and unleashing economic opportunity in both countries. I am proud of our department’s work behind the scenes to make this inaugural flight come to life, and I want to thank American Airlines for their continued commitment to servicing this essential aviation artery. Under President Trump’s historic leadership, the future of air travel between the United States and Venezuela has never been brighter. We can’t wait to expand on this progress and bring more flights online in the coming months.”
First US – Venezuela flights since 2019
The return of nonstop flights between the US and Venezuela comes months after a dramatic shift in relations between the two countries, following Washington’s January operation that led to the arrest of former President Nicolas Maduro, and marks the first direct air link between the two states since diplomatic ties were severed in 2019.
American was the last US carrier operating in Venezuela before suspending flights in 2019, while Delta and United had already withdrawn in 2017 amid a deepening political crisis that drove millions to leave the country.
