Flights will conclude on 29 April.
What they said
Lynne Embleton, CEO at Aer Lingus, said: “Our new direct route from Dublin to Cancun introduces a vibrant new destination to our network and further increases Aer Lingus’ winter sun offering. Our research highlights a strong appetite amongst customers for new travel experiences, particularly seasonal destinations beyond the peak summer period. Mexico, with its tropical climate, caters to the growing consumer demand for winter sun, while also offering a rich blend of history, culture, and cuisine.”
Mara Lezama Espinosa, Governor of Quintana Roo State, added: “Quintana Roo, the Mexican Caribbean, welcomes and celebrates the first direct Dublin – Cancun flight from Aer Lingus. We will work together with our partner Aer Lingus to make this a successful operation!”
Aer Lingus to add six new routes
Aer Lingus is expanding its European and transatlantic network with six new routes launching this year, in addition to Cancun. The airline will commence five short-haul services from Dublin and Cork, as well as new flights from the Irish capital to Pittsburgh. The new route brings the total number of routes Aer Lingus operates from Ireland to North America to 24.
Short-haul expansion sees Oslo, Montpellier and Asturias join the Dublin departure board, while Cork gains Nice and Santiago de Compostela. From Cork, Prague flips from summer-only to year-round.
