New Routes of the Day (1 October 2022): Transavia two international routes from Paris ORY

ORY - LXR

The French part of Transavia (IATA code TO) launched two new international routes from Paris ORY on Saturday 1 October. Using its 737-800s it now serves Béjaïa in Algeria. There are a few flights each week in October, before frequency becomes daily from the start of November until the end of March. The 1,350-kilometre route is also served by Air Algérie on a daily basis. Located in northern Algeria on the Mediterranean coast, Béjaïa is an ancient city and a major port.

Apart from flights to Orly, the airport also has non-stop, international flights in October with ASL Airlines France to Paris CDG (3-weekly) and TUI fly to Lille (weekly). Volotea is planning to start weekly (Tuesday) service to Béjaïa from Marseille on 8 November. Closer to home, Air Algérie has 3-weekly domestic service to Algiers (just 170 kilometres away) and Hassi Messaoud (served weekly with ATR 72s).

Three routes to Egypt this winter

Transavia’s second new route of the week is a weekly service from Orly to Luxor in Egypt. The 3,670-kilometre route faces no competition. In fact, this winter the only other links between France and Luxor will be operated by Air Cairo, with weekly flights from Nantes and Paris CDG.

This becomes Transavia’s second route to Egypt from Orly as the LCC already serves Hurghada. A third route to Sharm el-Sheikh is set to start on 5 November. All three Egyptian routes will operate weekly.
