Transavia France commenced two new routes from its Montpellier base to Tangier and Malaga on Wednesday 15 July and Sunday 19 July respectively. Both the 1,215-kilometre route to Morocco, and the 1,055-kilometre route to Spain will be maintained weekly with the 737-800 aircraft. The LCC does not face direct competition on either route.

What they said

Emmanuel Brehmer, Chairman of the Executive Board of Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport, said: “We are pleased to see Transavia strengthening its presence in Montpellier across both the leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives markets. This will provide people from Montpellier and the surrounding region with a new opportunity to discover southern Spain, make it easier for families to travel to Morocco, and enable others to explore the ‘White City’.”

Montpellier Airport with flights to 17 countries

Across the full summer 2026 schedule, Montpellier Méditerranée Airport offers close to 1.46 million seats, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous summer season.

Fourteen airlines are serving 39 destinations in 17 countries, underlining the airport’s expanding footprint and sustained demand in its catchment area. This growth aligns with Montpellier’s long-term network development strategy, which focuses on maintaining a balanced airline portfolio across full-service, hybrid and low-cost operators.

Altogether, four airlines have introduced six new routes over the course of the summer. Transavia France itself has added Djerba, in addition to Tangier and Malaga. It has also increased capacity, adding extra weekly services to Marrakech, Tunis and Rabat, with the latter having resumed earlier than last year, from 22 April.
