New Routes of the Day (18 April 2025): Transavia France’s new routes from Bordeaux

Transavia France added two new routes from Bordeaux to Brussels and Faro respectively, on Friday 18 April. Both the 800-kilometre service to the Belgian capital and the 1,060-kilometre journey to the Portuguese coast are maintained 2-weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, with the 189-seat 737-800 aircraft. The LCC faces competition only the Brussels route where it goes head-to-head against easyJet’s 2-weekly rotations.
What they said
Nicolas Henin, Deputy CEO for Commercial and Marketing at Transavia France, said: “We are committed to offering new destinations from Bordeaux. We intend to establish ourselves in Bordeaux for the long term and we are confident in the sustainability of this development. The region is both attractive and a source of traffic. It is clear that the departure of a competitor was a trigger. It was an opportunity, as we had very little presence in the Southwest of France until now.”
Simon Dreschel, Chairman of the Management Board.at Bordeaux Airport, added: “We are thrilled with the significant growth of Transavia France in Bordeaux. The introduction of these new routes underscores the growing and fruitful collaboration with this Air France-KLM Group airline. Transavia France is enriching Bordeaux’s offerings with European and international destinations, meeting the needs of our passengers, whether they travel for leisure or business. Bordeaux Airport continues to expand its route network and diversify its airline partnerships to offer a range of services tailored to the needs of the people of Bordeaux and its region.”
Transavia France is Bordeaux’s fifth-largest carrier
Transavia France opened an operational base at Bordeaux Airport in October 2024 after Ryanair announced it would discontinue all flights to the French city due to disagreements over fees.
During the 2025 summer season, Transavia will boast flights to eight destinations from Bordeaux. Apart from the two newly launched routes, they include Agadir, Dakar, Istanbul IST, Marrakech, Tirana and Toulon.
The carrier will continue to expand its footprint out of Bordeaux during the 2025/26 winter season with the addition of flights to Boa Vista, Hurghada and Sal.
Transavia France is the fifth-largest carrier operating out of Bordeaux during the busy second and third quarters with a total of over 149,000 seats. easyJet remains the largest, followed by Volotea, Air France and KLM. Transavia’s busiest route from Bordeaux, based on the volume of flights and seat capacity, is Agadir, followed by Marrakech and Istanbul IST.
