New Routes of the Day (21 March 2024): Volotea’s new routes from Verona

Volotea at Prague

Volotea introduced the first of six new routes from Verona on Thursday 21 March by basing an additional A320 aircraft in the city.

  • 21 March: Comiso (2-weekly)
  • 22 March: Prague (2-weekly)
  • 22 March: Madrid (2-weekly)
  • 23 March: Copenhagen (2-weekly)
  • 23 March: Valencia (2-weekly)
  • 13 April: Bordeux (2-weekly)

All the new network additions out of Verona will be maintained by either the A319 or A320 jets. The LCC faces limited competition on its new services, going head-to-head only against Ryanair’s 4-weekly Madrid and Valencia flights.

What they said

Valeria Rebasti, Director for International Markets at Volotea, said: “Verona is reconfirmed as an airport of strategic importance for Volotea’s development plans. We continue to work in close synergy with the airports of Verona and Venice, in order to offer passengers direct and fast connections to reach an increasingly larger number of destinations. In Verona, where we are concentrating our growth this year, we operate with flights ranging from Greece to Spain, from France to Germany, passing through Denmark and the Czech Republic. Obviously, the nine Italian destinations with the latest addition of Comiso should not be forgotten, to discover all the beauties of southern Sicily, and of Salerno, the gateway to the Amalfi coast.”

Volotea grows Verona capacity by 26%

The addition of another A320 aircraft and the inclusion of six new routes to its Verona network will grow Volotea’s capacity out of the Italian city by 26% in 2024 year-on-year. The carrier has over 800,000 seats on its Verona operations.

Athens International Airport

Since its debut in Verona in 2012, Volotea has carried over 5.3 million passengers on over 40,000 flights to and from the city.

Volotea is Verona’s second-largest airline, behind only Ryanair. Once it completes its summer expansion, the LCC will serve 20 destinations out of the Italian city, nine of which are domestic, and 11 international. This year it is maintaining the most flights and capacity from Verona to three Italian destinations – Olbia, Catania, and Palermo.
