New Routes of the Day (27 October 2025): Ryanair’s new routes from Shannon

Ryanair introduced two new routes from Shannon on Monday 27 October and Tuesday 28 October, to Rovaniemi and Madrid, after basing its fourth aircraft at the airport. Both services will be maintained 2-weekly and the LCC will be the sole operator on the routes. This follows the introduction of services between Shannon and Funchal earlier this year.
What they said
Jade Kirwan, Communications Director at Ryanair, said: “We’re pleased to see the first flights of our new Winter 2025 routes from Shannon take off today, carrying lots of cheerful passengers heading away for some well-warranted winter sun in Madeira and Madrid or to experience the magic of snowy Lapland. These exciting new Winter 2025 routes to Madeira, Madrid and Lapland (Rovaniemi) will each operate twice per week, adding to Ryanair’s already robust Irish Winter 2025 schedule, offering even more choice at the lowest fares.”
Ray O’Driscoll, Interim CEO at Shannon Airport Group, added: “We’re delighted to see Ryanair’s three new Winter ’25 routes from Shannon Airport to Madrid, Rovaniemi (Lapland), and Madeira take to the skies this week. These inaugural flights mark a fantastic boost to Ryanair’s already strong schedule from Shannon and further cement our position as a key gateway to and from the West of Ireland.”
Ryanair now has over 1.8 million annual seats at Shannon Airport
The addition of Ryanair’s new services delivers 20% traffic growth, or about 100,000 additional passengers per year. The LCC plans to handle over 1.6 million passengers per year.
Apart from introducing new routes, the airline is also increasing frequencies on existing services this winter, including to Alicante, Edinburgh, Krakow, Lanzarote, Manchester. and Wroclaw.
Shannon Airport in western Ireland is one of the country’s fastest growing. Having already surpassed its pre-pandemic passenger levels, it welcomed over 2.1 million travellers in 2024, the highest number in 15 years and a 7% increase on 2023. Ryanair was Shannon’s largest carrier by capacity share in 2024, accounting for over 65% of all seats.
