MONTPELLIER AIRPORT

New Routes of the Day – Americas 1 (26 May 2022): Avelo at Tweed New Haven

HVN - 3 routes cake

Avelo (IATA code XP), which began flying from Tweed New Haven Regional Airport in Connecticut last November, added three more routes from the airport on 26 May. Between November and January 2022 Avelo had launched six routes from Tweed New Haven to Florida; Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando MCO, Sarasota/Bradenton, Tampa and West Palm Beach. Then, in early May, it added Charleston and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, as well as Nashville in Tennessee and Savannah in Georgia.

Now it has introduced 4-weekly service to Baltimore/Washington in Maryland, Chicago MDW in Illinois and Raleigh/Durham in North Carolina, with all routes increasing to 5-weekly in the weeks ahead.  Chicago and Washington were last served from the airport over 25 years ago. As with all of Avelo’s flights from Tweed New Haven, it is the only carrier on the route. A 14th route to Wilmington in North Carolina is set to begin at the end of June. As a result, in July, Avelo will be offering 76 weekly flights from Tweed New Haven, with nearly all operated by the airline’s 737-700s. All routes will be served between 3- and 6-weekly, with the exception of Orlando, which will have 17 weekly flights.

Quiet on a Tuesday

On Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in July, Avelo will have between 12 and 14 departing flights each day. However, there are only seven departures on Wednesdays and just three on Tuesdays, which must make managing staff resources at the airport a bit awkward.
