New Routes of the Day – Americas (1 July 2022): Contour from Philadelphia

Contour (IATA code LF) has added Philadelphia in Pennsylvania to its route network. On Friday 1 July, the regional carrier began 12-weekly service to two destinations in the state of New York; Ogdensburg and Plattsburgh. Neither route is served by any other carrier. The airline will use two of its ERJ-135s to operate these routes.
At Ogdensburg International Airport, which lies close to the Canadian border in northern New York state, this new route replaces SkyWest’s daily service to Washington IAD (operated on behalf of United). Due to staffing issues, SkyWest had announced a few months ago that it would be withdrawing service from a number of routes which were served as part of the US’s Essential Air Service (EAS) programme.
At Plattsburgh International Airport, Contour is also replacing SkyWest’s daily service to Washington IAD (operated on behalf of United) which ended on 30 June. However, Contour is not the only carrier at Plattsburgh, with Allegiant offering three routes to Florida. The ULCC serves Fort Lauderdale 3-weekly, Orlando SFB and St. Pete/Clearwater both 2-weekly with its A319s and A320s.
