What they said
Joanna Geraghty, Chief Executive Officer of JetBlue, said: “Fort Lauderdale has always been part of JetBlue’s DNA and a cornerstone of our network. We are very excited about this next phase of growth and look forward to delivering great value to the people of South Florida. We’re building on our already strong foundation by adding more destinations, creating more connections and giving customers even more reasons to choose JetBlue. As Fort Lauderdale’s leading airline, we see an opportunity to continue growing together with this community.”
Mark E. Gale, CEO and Director of Aviation at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, added: “We’re very pleased with JetBlue’s ongoing expansion at FLL and its renewed commitment to our airport to increase flight options for travellers in this market. We welcome the eight new routes launching this week and the others on the immediate horizon as we continue to grow our partnership even further.”
JetBlue capitalises on Spirit’s demise in Fort Lauderdale
JetBlue’s daily departures from Fort Lauderdale have increased by more than 75% compared with the same period last year. Since December, the airline has launched services to 24 additional nonstop destinations from the airport. Another six routes are scheduled to begin later in 2026. These include Barranquilla and Cali in Colombia, Columbus, Indianapolis, San Diego and Caracas, all expected to start in October and November.
The airline expects to operate approximately 150-daily flights from Fort Lauderdale during the upcoming winter season, which would represent its largest-ever schedule at the airport. It comes after Spirit Airlines, which held 20% of Fort Lauderdale’s capacity, ceased operations earlier this summer.
