Prague Airport accelerates expansion with new routes and long-haul growth

In 2025, Prague Airport’s route development and marketing activities translated ambition into measurable outcomes. Across all markets, the airport supported the launch of 46 new routes, including 24 entirely new destinations, and welcomed 12 new airlines, complementing the 77 regular carriers already in operation.
More than 55 existing routes recorded frequency and/or capacity increases, resulting in nearly 1.5 million additional seats and a 7% year-on-year rise in total capacity. These results demonstrate not only network expansion but also growing airline confidence in the Prague market.
Long-haul momentum
Long-haul connectivity remained a strategic priority, recognising its wider impact on tourism, trade and economic development.
In 2026, Prague Airport becomes the first European destination for STARLUX Airlines with Taipei – Prague commencing on 1 August.
In addition, 2025 and 2026 saw the introduction of several other long-haul services, including Asiana Airlines’ Seoul – Prague route, Etihad Airways’ Abu Dhabi – Prague service, American Airlines’ Philadelphia – Prague route, Air Canada’ Toronto – Prague flights, and Air Arabia’ Sharjah – Prague service.
Each of these routes was supported by tailored market-entry strategies combining demand analysis with targeted local activation to ensure a strong and sustainable start, with several airlines already committing to capacity increases from the 2026 summer season.
Short-haul route development was equally dynamic, further strengthening Prague’s European and regional connectivity.
New destinations launched in 2025 included Podgorica, Vilnius, Zagreb, Yerevan, Cork, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Iași, Beirut, Marrakech and Skopje. Additional routes planned for 2026 include Timisoara, Ibiza, Brindisi, Faro, Bodrum and Porto Santo.
Together, long- and short-haul growth has reinforced Prague Airport’s position as a balanced and competitive hub, serving nearly 200 destinations in cooperation with over 85 regular and charter airline partners.
Future connectivity opportunities
Prague Airport’s Aviation Business Development team continues to focus on enhancing connectivity with overseas markets, responding to growing demand for services to and from Hanoi, Bangkok and New Delhi, while the resumption of flights from Shanghai remains a key objective.
The airport is also seeking extensions to its seasonal services to New York JFK and Toronto. In North America, Newark, Chicago and Montreal rank among the most desired future routes.
Within Europe, Prague Airport is targeting underserved markets such as Hamburg, Venice and Bergen, which remain among the most in-demand unserved destinations.
