Ryanair plans a record summer from Katowice; 26 routes are scheduled

Ryanair is the largest airline in Poland. Even excluding the ULCC’s Buzz charter unit, it is larger than Wizz Air or LOT Polish. According to Cirium data, it is the airline’s fifth-most-served country by scheduled seats, after Italy, Spain, the UK and Ireland.
Ryanair serves 13 airports in Poland. Out of the 37 countries in its network, it serves more airports there than elsewhere, except Italy (32), France (24), Spain (24) and Greece (16).
They include Katowice, which has been part of its network since 2007. In S26, the ULCC will base nine aircraft there, three of which will be used on its regular routes. It plans 1.14 million two-way scheduled seats, up by 13% to its highest level to date.
It’ll have about 31% of the airport’s scheduled capacity, behind only Wizz Air (50%). It will be Ryanair’s sixth-busiest Polish airport and rank 81st out of 224 airports in its network in S26. It’ll account for just under 7% of its Polish capacity.

It has 26 scheduled routes from Katowice in S26
The ULCC’s 26-strong network is shown on the following map. It’ll have head-to-head competition on 11 of them. Compared to S25, four routes have been added, as summarised below.
- 30 March: Malaga (2-weekly)
- 2 June: Aarhus (2-weekly)
- 2 June: Lamezia-Terme (3-weekly)
- 2 June: Tirana (3-weekly)
Ryanair has not served any of them before. Moreover, Aarhus is brand-new to Katowice’s map, while Lamezia flights were last flown by Smartwings in 2022. Only Forli, last served in October 2025, has been dropped.

Milan BGY is the top route
Ryanair will serve 14 countries from Katowice, with Albania and Denmark being new to its network. It’ll be the first time the ULCC has flown from the Polish airport to both nations.
With 235,000 one-way seats, Italy will be the most-served country. It’ll fly to Alghero, Bari, Catania, Lamezia, Milan BGY, Reggio Calabria, Rome FCO, Trapani and Venice TSF. Italy has three times the capacity of the second-most-served nation, which is the UK.
With 64,000 one-way seats, Milan BGY is Ryanair’s top route across all 26 in S26. It has served it since 2017. It has 10-weekly flights in mid-June, with no direct or indirect competition to Milan. However, Wizz Air served BGY until 2022.
