New Route of the Day (23 October 2026): Smartwings between Prague and Lisbon

Smartwings introduced flights between Prague and Lisbon on Friday 23 October. The 2,230-kilometre route will operate 2-weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, with the 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The airline will go against TAP Air Portugal’s daily flights between the two capitals.
What they said
Emre Pekesen, CEO, Smartwings, said: “We are pleased with the great interest of travellers in the new service to Lisbon, which confirms the attractiveness of Portugal as a travel destination. Our long-term commitment is to continue expanding our network of scheduled routes and our portfolio of destinations to offer passengers more and more direct flights to places of interest across Europe and beyond.”
Smartwings to serve 39 destinations this winter
Smartwings is expanding its operations from the Czech Republic during the 2026/27 winter season, serving 39 destinations. From its Prague hub, the airline is introducing flights to Venice and Bergen alongside Lisbon, while services to Bucharest will resume in November.
The carrier is also increasing frequencies on existing routes to Porto, Bilbao and Toulouse, while maintaining year-round flights to Nice.
Beyond Prague, Smartwings will maintain leisure services from Brno and Ostrava, including flights to Egyptian destinations. The airline will also introduce charter flights from Ostrava to Mombasa in Kenya in December, operated on behalf of tour operator Čedok.
Prague to be served by 69 airlines
Prague Airport will offer flights to 145 destinations during the 2026/27 winter season, an increase of twelve compared to last year. A total of 69 airlines will operate from the Czech capital, four more than during the previous winter, with twenty new destinations added to the network.
Among the new services are Smartwings’ new routes, Marrakesh and Lille with easyJet, and Bolzano with SkyAlps. Long-haul expansion includes Vietjet’s services to Hanoi via Almaty, alongside new charter connections to Phuket, La Romana and Sihanoukville.
The airport expects to handle more than 6.5 million passengers during the winter season.
Several existing routes will also see frequency increases, including Belgrade with Air Serbia, Istanbul SAW with Pegasus Airlines, Lisbon with TAP Air Portugal and Seoul ICN with Korean Air.
