New Routes of the Day (25 October 2026): Air Serbia’s new routes from Nis

Air Serbia launched flights from Nis, in southeastern Serbia, to both Vienna and Malta on Sunday 25 October. Both the 670-kilometre service to the Austrian capital and the 1,045-kilometre rotation to Malta will be maintained 2-weekly.
Flights to Vienna will be operated by the ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft, while the A319 will be deployed to Malta. The Serbian carrier does not face competition on either of the two routes.
What they said
Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, said: “By commencing direct services from Nis to Vienna and Malta, we are continuing to develop Air Serbia’s network and offer passengers from southern Serbia additional travel opportunities. Both destinations are highly important for tourism and business travel, as well as for Serbian citizens living and working abroad. We believe the new routes will contribute to the further development of traffic from Nis Constantine the Great Airport and enable passengers from Nis and the wider region to travel more easily and affordably to important international destinations.”
Air Serbia replaces Ryanair
Air Serbia is launching the two routes following Ryanair’s decision to discontinue services to both cities during the final week of the 2026 summer season and withdraw from the Serbian market altogether.
As a result, Air Serbia will expand its Niš network to seven year-round destinations, adding to its existing services to Belgrade, Cologne Bonn, Hahn, Istanbul IST and Ljubljana. The carrier also maintains seasonal summer flights to Athens and Tivat.
Following Ryanair’s withdrawal, Wizz Air will remain the only other airline operating scheduled services from Niš, with flights to Basel, Memmingen and Dortmund.
Niš is Serbia’s second-busiest airport after Belgrade, while the city itself is the country’s third-largest. The airport handled just over 352,000 passengers during the first nine months of 2026, representing a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
