EGYPTAIR now serves 27 European airports
EGYPTAIR is Africa’s second-largest airline by international seat capacity, behind Ethiopian Airlines. In 2026, the Egyptian flag carrier will offer 12.97 million non-stop, one-way international seats, up 2% on its previous record set in 2025.
Of EGYPTAIR’s total international capacity, 7.55 million one-way seats are allocated to destinations within Africa, followed by 2.74 million to the Middle East, 1.84 million to Europe, 463,000 to Asia and 371,000 to North Asia.
Europe accounts for 14% of the airline’s total international seat capacity, with available seats increasing 3% year-on-year to a record high. Almost all of EGYPTAIR’s European capacity is operated from its Cairo hub (96%), with the remainder originating from Hurghada, Luxor and Sharm el Sheikh.
EGYPTAIR is adding three European routes in 2026, including Venice, which launched on 29 July, Birmingham and Stockholm Arlanda, with the latter scheduled to commence on 18 December. As a result, by the end of the year, the Star Alliance member will serve 27 airports across 18 European countries, with Sweden joining its network in 2026.
Compared to 2025, fifteen of these European destinations will see an increase in capacity. The strongest growth at country level will be recorded in Italy (+25%), followed by France (+7%), Russia (+7%), Belgium (+5%) and the United Kingdom (+5%).
